Official rules

Official rules

Version 1.0 · 4 November 2026. We may update these rules before registration opens; the version in force is the one on this page at check-in.

1. The event

Dragon Connector · Da Nang / 001 (the “Event”) is a one-day hackathon held in Da Nang, Vietnam, on Saturday 19 December 2026, from 08:00 to 20:00 Vietnam time. It is organized by Matt Sim (the “Organizer”).

The Event is independent. It is not run or endorsed by Solana Mobile or any other company unless this page says so.

2. Who can enter

Entry is free and open to anyone who registers through the participant app and accepts these rules and the code of conduct.

Participants under 18 may enter only with the written consent of a parent or legal guardian, given on the Organizer’s consent form before check-in. The parent or guardian accepts these rules on the participant’s behalf and is the person a prize is paid to.

The Organizer, the crew, and the judges of a prize cannot win that prize. Employees of a sponsor may take part but cannot win a prize their employer sponsors.

3. Teams

Teams have 1 to 4 members. A person can be in one team only.

Teams are fixed at code freeze. Prizes are shared equally among the team members unless the team tells the Organizer in writing how to split them.

4. Building

Projects must be built during the Event, from the start of building at 09:30. Teams may plan, design and set up tools beforehand.

Open-source libraries, templates, starter kits and AI tools are allowed. List them in the project’s README. Submitting a project built before the Event, or presenting someone else’s work as your own, leads to disqualification.

5. Submitting

Submit in the participant app before code freeze at 16:30: the project name, a short description, a link to a public GitHub repository and a demo link or video.

The repository must be public at code freeze and stay public until the winners are announced. Late or private submissions are not judged.

6. Judging

Judges score each eligible project on four criteria worth 25 points each: working prototype, user experience, technical depth, and pitch and potential. Sponsored tracks and prizes may add criteria, published before the Event.

Up to 10 finalists present on stage at 18:00. Judges declare conflicts of interest and do not score projects they are connected to. The judges’ decisions are final.

7. Prizes

Prizes and their values are published before the Event. Every prize is paid in VND by bank transfer, or in goods. No prize is paid in cryptocurrency, tokens or other digital assets.

Cash prizes are paid within 30 days after the winners give the payer the details it needs, including identity documents for tax. A prize that is not claimed within 60 days of the Event lapses.

If a sponsor fails to pay a prize it has committed, the Organizer will tell the winners and help them claim it, but is not liable for the sponsor’s payment.

8. Tax

Under Vietnam’s personal income tax law, a prize worth more than VND 20 million is taxed at 10%. The payer, whether the Organizer or a sponsor, withholds this tax before paying the prize and declares it. Winners receive a record of the tax withheld.

Winners are responsible for any other tax that applies to them, including in their own country.

9. Intellectual property

Teams own what they build. Neither the Organizer nor any sponsor gains ownership of a project by running, sponsoring or judging the Event.

Teams choose the licence for their public repository. By submitting, each team allows the Organizer and the sponsors to show its project name, description, screenshots, demo video and repository link to report on and promote the Event.

Teams must have the right to use everything in their project, including code, images, fonts and data.

10. Privacy and media

Registration, team, submission and check-in details are stored with Supabase in the United States and used to run the Event and pay prizes. You can delete your data from the participant app’s Settings at any time before prizes are paid.

The Event is photographed and filmed. Tell the crew at check-in if you do not want to appear, and you will get a lanyard sticker that the photographers respect. Reports about the Event use aggregate numbers only.

11. Conduct and safety

Everyone follows the code of conduct. The Organizer may remove anyone who breaks it, or these rules, and disqualify their team.

Participants look after their own equipment and belongings.

12. Changes and law

The Organizer may change the schedule or venue, or postpone the Event, if it has to. Changes are announced in the participant app and on this site.

These rules are governed by the laws of Vietnam. They are published in English and Vietnamese; if the two differ, the Vietnamese version prevails.
